Marie Holmes

Marie Holmes, age 95, passed away on July 11, 2015 at Ministry St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. Marie was born on April 26, 1920 in Czechoslovakia, she was one of nine children born to Andrew and Malana (Popovich) Schemaline. She was married to Edwin "Bud" Holmes, he preceded her in death. Marie moved to the United States at the age of 18, she lived most of her life in the Chicago area. She and her husband owned and operated Buds Tavern for many years, she was also employed with General Electric company for many years. Following retirement she moved to Florida and later spent about 15 years in the Tomahawk area. Marie enjoyed shopping, traveling, storytelling, and time spent with grandchildren. Survivors include: Grandson, Tom (Angela) O'Hara Rhinelander Sister, Sandy (Bill) Sloan Hillsborough, IL Brother, Andrew Schemaline Witt, IL She is further survived by 4 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; a daughter, Patricia; and 7 siblings. Marie's life will be celebrated privately by her family.
