Florence Willfahrt, age 90, W9237 US Hwy. 8, Tripoli, passed away July 8, 2014 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk. Florence was born May 27, 1924 in Marshfield, the daughter of Frank and Olive (Hamus) Pongratz. She married John Willfahrt on June 14, 1948 in Plum City, Wisconsin; he passed away on December 26, 1986. Florence and John farmed in Auburbdale, and later moved to Tripoli. They owned and operated Hilltop Bar & Grocery from 1968 - 1994. Florence played the button accordion, clarinet, and guitar, and was a musician in the Pongratz Family Band. Some of Florence's other interests include: gardening, bird-watching, flowers, fishing, polka music, and visiting with family and friends. She had a special affection and love for her cats. Florence was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Pier Willow. Survivors include: children, Patricia (Michael) Hasenohrl, Nekoosa, Annette (Jerold) Manlick, Marshfield, Carol (James) Schneider, Plover, Otilda "Bootsie" Haasl, Lockport, Illinois, Dorothy Eskola, Prentice, John (Jeanne) Willfahrt, Oconomowoc, Edward (Lois) Willfahrt, Tomahawk, Ann (James) Marheine, Brantwood, Gary Willfahrt, Tripoli; sisters, Grace Pongratz, Marshfield, Alice Sabastian, Marshfield, Cecelia DeRuyter, West Bend, Marlene Steen, Tripoli. Florence is further survived by 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 21 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - John, 4 brothers, and a grandson - Jesse Marheine. A Memorial Service for Florence Willfahrt will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Father John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the hour of service at 12:30 PM. Burial will take place in Auburndale.
